Sightseeing Highlights of Vancouver

Posted by David Showell - Guest Blogger on 11th, September 2012
There are some cities in the world which give you exactly what you would expect when you visit, and there are one or two which are full of surprises. Vancouver, a beautiful metropolis in the south-western corner of Canada, undoubtedly fits perfectly in the latter group. It has a number of attractions to tempt the visitor, all located in a city which is a pleasing mix of influences, and which retains a wonderful village-type feel to it. Here are four must-visit locations that should be on every tourist schedule. Grouse Mountain Canadians are understandably proud of the natural beauty of their nation, and where better to see it than a 4,000-feet high mountain that’s just a few minutes from the very centre of Vancouver? In the winter months, this is a hugely popular ski resort, but in the summer months it’s just as beautiful and just as well-loved. If you like hiking, be sure to bring your boots, because the trails around Grouse Mountain are among the most picturesque in th Readmore »

A Road Trip through the Italian and French Rivieras

Posted by Guest Blogger on 09th, September 2012
The French Connection: A Road Trip through the Italian and French Rivieras Some years ago, I travelled by train from Genoa to Nice, in the South of France. As I trundled west, with the carriage door of the train open - which was allowed at the time and to my left, watching the Meditteranean merge with the French Riviera all along the journey, I vowed one day to return. And so I found myself with two friends and an ancient, dusty old camper van in Ventimiglia, recently purchased from an even more ancient looking ‘uomo’.Ventimiglia is a quaint old harbour town, within the Gulf of Genoa, and only four miles from the French-Italian border. We had water, we had ciabattas and we had our passports at the ready for the border check.   Travel To French Riviera | French and Italian Riviera   Holiday in Turkey   Travelling on European roads is easier than you might think. Admittedly, left hand driving takes some getting used to, especially when having to r Readmore »

The Incredible Beauty Of Scotland East Coast

Posted by Guest Blogger on 08th, September 2012
The incredible beauty of Scotland's east coast There are at least one or two areas of natural beauty in just about every region of the world, but it has to be said that few can compete with the sheer scale of spectacular scenery that’s on show on Scotland’s east coast. Although this wonderful corner of the United Kingdom has a growing band of enthusiastic fans, it still remains something of a hidden gem. The reason for that is the geographical location, and the fact that most visitors to the UK tend to visit London and the surrounding area. While the capital city is rightly celebrated as one of the world’s very finest cities, those tourists who make the effort to head north and explore Scotland will be rewarded with vistas and memories that will surely last a lifetime.   Visiting Scotland | Places To See In Scotland Travel To Glasgow Throughout the area you’ll find a wonderful collection of bustling historic towns and quaint fishing villages, a Readmore »

Four Reasons To Make New York Your Next City Break Destination

Posted by Guest Blogger on 04th, September 2012
Every year, millions of people across Europe enjoy a city break in one of the continent’s most iconic capitals, and while the charms of London, Rome and Paris are there for all to see, sometimes they can become a little clichéd. There’s something wonderful about the Houses of Parliament, the Trevi Fountain and the Arc de Triomphe, of course, but sometimes it might pay to look further afield. New York City may be some distance away from Europe, but it’s always worth making the effort. The Big Apple is one of the few destinations that have a discernible wow factor, and there are so many incredible landmarks to see, so if you’re never been there before here are four places that are, pure and simple, must-sees.   Madison Square Garden Located in the very heart of Manhattan, just down the road from the Empire State Building, Madison Square Garden is one of the world’s most celebrated sporting arenas. Guided tours of the venue are highly recomm Readmore »

The Beaches of Montevideo

Posted by Lisa Marie Mercer on 19th, August 2012
The Beaches of Montevideo Newspapers around the world featured a photo of Jennifer Lopez practicing her kickboxing moves on Playa de los Ingleses in Montevideo. My friends emailed me and asked if it was a typo. Surely they meant Punta del Este, the upscale and trendy celebrity hangout. In fact, strange as it may seem, the metropolis of Montevideo does have quite a few beaches, and Jlo was showing her true, urban roots by choosing this city beach for her photo shoot. She's still Jenny from the Bronx. Good for her!   Trip to Uruguay | Holiday in Montevideo Beach Houses The Rambla of Montevideo While Montevideo has a quintessentially urban ambiance, residents wishing respite from the cacophony of city life find an entire promenade of beaches within walking distance of their barrio.
